Khulna
The regional capital of Khulna Division in Southern Bangladesh is Khulna. It is renowned as an industrial city and is situated in the south-western region of Bangladesh on the banks of the Rupsha (and Bhairav) rivers. Khulna is home to a sizable portion of the Sundarbans, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Sunderbans' gateway city is how it is known. Numerous jute mills, Bangladesh's only newsprint and hardboard mills, the only state-owned match factory (Dada match, later Dhaka match), the Oxygen Company (BOL), and a shipyard are all located there. Khulna is Bangladesh's third-largest city after Dhaka and Chittagong. The population of this large, industrial city is close to 2.5 million.
